Fanning River Camping
Fanning River is located southwest of Townsville and is a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the surrounds. The sandy banks are surrounded by she-oaks and melaleuca paperbark.

Fanning River is southwest of Townsville and is a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the surrounds. The area is sand so four-wheel drives are recommended. This place is used as a campground offers swimming in the wetter part of the year. It is also dog-friendly. The sandy banks are surrounded by she-oaks and melaleuca paperbark.
The following creeks and rivers flow into the Fanning River: Fanning River (West Branch), Fanning River (East Branch) and Station Creek. Fanning River then meets with the Burdekin River.
Note that Defence land is either side of this gazetted road.

Fanning River can be accessed via Hervey Range, Mingela, or via Fletchers Creek (crossing the Burdekin River).
