Frederick Peak

Frederick Peak is a mountain located near Townsville in the central of Queensland. Frederick Peak is at an altitude of about 610m above sea level and has some of the best climbing in the Townsville area! The rock is Intrusive Rhyolite and is well featured, and the scenery can be breathtaking. Offering route types (trad, sport, mixed) and it's the main area to do multi-pitches.

Located out past Frederick's Peak, Wild Horse Mountain is not very well known. It's name may be it's best feature as the summit does not have much to offer.

Despite the name, Frederick Peak also refers to a number of rocky pinnacles in the area and is commonly referred to as 'Freds'. It is located just outside of Townsville and offers superb views of Townsville city, all the way from the Ross River Dam out to North Shore.
