Located west of Townsville, Mingela State Forest covers an area of around 7800 hectares. The state forest includes Flagstone, Black Mountain, Brown Mountain, and Mt Ellenvale which is the highest point. The most prominent mountain is Flagstone. Saint Georges Tree and Ross River Mtn lie just outside the state forest's bounds.
