Dalrymple National Park Fletchers Creek and Burdekin River camping area There are several great highlights of this area: fossilised limestone, ancient lava flows, and, of course, the Burdekin River. The reserve is also the place of the former Dalrymple township, which was one of the first inland settlements in northern Australia.

Charters Towers Exploring Flat Rock, Burdekin River Flat Rock camping reserve is about 20 km south of Charters Towers and has about two kilometres frontage of the Burdekin River. It's an excellent fishing as the Burdekin Dam is stocked annually with barramundi.
Charters Towers Exploring Big Bend and Echo Hole, Burdekin River Big Bend is a popular 4WD full bush camping located right on the banks of the Burdekin River. Part of the Great Basalt Wall and known for its extensive basalt formations. It's better than Fletchers Creek with great fishing and bush camping opportunities.
Great Basalt Wall National Park Red Falls, Charters Towers Red Falls is on Lolworth Creek in the Great Basalt Wall National Park and use to be a popular swimming hole.
Dalrymple National Park Mount Keelbottom Mount Keelbottom require an off-trail hike through Dalrymple National Park to reach the summit. Witness an abundance of wildlife, ranging from water birds on the Burdekin River shores to native animals in the bush, all experienced as you strive to conquer the mountain's peak.
North Queensland Fanning River Camping Fanning River is located southwest of Townsville and is a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the surrounds. The sandy banks are surrounded by she-oaks and melaleuca paperbark.
