Hervey Range

Hervey Range, once known as Dalrymple Range, is the large mountain range about 40 kilometres north of Townsville, in Queensland, Australia. It is home to one of the highest peaks in Townsville, Mount Cataract at the 709 metres elevation. The parent range is the Great Dividing Range.

Patterson Gorge

Patterson Gorge is the headwaters of Black River. The upper reaches are filled with boulder-lined streams with steep valley sides. The catchment area then trickles down the range passing under the Greenvale Line bridge and then reaching the bottom of Hervey Range where it has a sandy bottom.

Located on Hervey Range, Bridal Falls only shows itself after a heavy rain. However, during the dry season, all you may see is a dry rock face. Regardless, wet or dry season, you cannot miss Bridal Falls, as the area is literally just off the road.

Round Mountain

Out the back of the Ross River dam is Round Mountain. It's almost a part of the Frederick's Peak mountain range. From the Townsville side, if you look at the mountain with a creative mind, you can see a woman laying down facing upwards. The summit is her forehead and the lower peak is her nose.

Located out past Frederick's Peak, Wild Horse Mountain is not very well known. It's name may be it's best feature as the summit does not have much to offer.

The old Hervey Range Road, now known as Page Road, is one of the few surviving examples in the region of a roadway dating from early European settlement. This was the initial route from the port of Townsville to the hinterland.
